How do I change Dock shape to a line?

A Dock in the shape of a straight line - like Rocket Dock or Object Dock - is not currently supported per se, but you can simulate this as described below.

First you need to decide whether you want the Centre Button to be the first (or last) item of the Dock or if the Centre Button is to be at the middle of the Dock. If it's to be the first (or last) item, then set Number of Icons Per Circle (Dock Shape properties) to 1; but if the Centre Button is to be the middle item, set Number of Icons Per Circle to 2.

On the Elements - Centre Button page, set the Centre Button's size to be the same as a Dock Item. You can make it larger or smaller if you wish, although making it the same size looks better.

Because Circle Dock does not directly support line-shaped Docks, there is no suitable background shape so we can either reduce the background's size to the same as, or smaller than, the size of the Centre Button. Or better, make it completely transparent by setting its Normal Opacity close to zero.

Now return to the Dock Shape properties and set the Minimum Radius such that the Dock items closest to the Centre Button are closer to it - but they should not touch the Centre Button! Then set Separation Between Circles to a value that is at least 10 pixels greater than the size of each Dock item. Also on this page, set Format to Constant Number of Icons Per Circle.

On the Rotation page of General properties, Set Current Rotation Value to 0 (or 180) for a horizontal line, or to 90 (or 270) for a vertical line. Having done that, disable Dock Rotation.

In a future release we will add support for straight-line Docks including rectangular backgrounds and the ability to dock the Dock at one of the screen edges.
